the Volunteer
Application
In addition to our thirteen member staff, the Womens Center of Montgomery County has an active pool of more than 180 volunteers. Each volunteer contributes at least 12 hours of service per year and participates in at least 8 hours of in-service training on domestic violence and related issues. Volunteers providing direct counseling services to victims of domestic violence also complete a 45 hour intensive domestic violence training which includes active listening skills, cultural sensitivity, conflict resolution, and role playing.
We estimate that our volunteers contribute more than 320 hours of service per week. In particular, the Womens Center operates one of the only volunteered-powered, 24 hour domestic violence hotlines in the region.
Other activities performed by volunteers include
Counseling:
One on One/Individualized

On the hotline (from the office or from your home)

Clerical and administrative help
Thrift Shop Staffing
These are just some ideas; there are many possibilities.
